The Mesopotamian city of Babylon and its relation to Egypt and the Aegean world are the subjects of two 2008 exhibitions at the Louvre and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Paris' Musée du Louvre will host Babylon from March 14 to June 2, 2008. The rich history of this ancient Mesopotamian city will be presented alongside its famous legends in this magnificent international loan exhibition.

Beyond Babylon: Art and International Exchange in the Second Millennium B.C. is scheduled to open at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art in Fall 2008. Some 300 gold and silver vessels, precious ivories, pieces of jewelry, seals and wall paintings will describe how the ancient Near Eastern, Egyptian and Aegean civilizations interacted diplomatically and commercially with each other. The influence of their relations on the regions' art forms (ca. 3000-2000 B.C.) will be examined.
