Two More Terracotta Warrior Shows

Qin Dynasty Statues on View in the United States and The Netherlands

Two exhibitions, one in the United States and the other in The Netherlands, feature terracotta soldiers from the tomb of Qin Shihuangdi, China's first emperor.


In addition to the touring special exhibition The First Emperor: China's Terracotta Army, two other museum presentations feature terracotta soldiers from the funerary complex of Qin Shihuangdi (r. 221-210 B.C.).

  • Timeless Warriors & Relics: 1500 Years of Ancient China (January 20-April 13, 2008) at the Alden B. Dow Museum of Science & Art in Midland, Michigan displays two of the life-sized warriors and a number of ceramic works. Architectural elements, objects of everyday use, vessels and weaponry made of bronze, copper, jade and silver are also on view.
  • The Terracotta Army from Xi'an (February 2-August 31, 2008) at the Drents Museum in Assen, The Netherlands includes 14 of the warriors along with 200 artifacts from the Qin and West Han Dynasties.
