Tutankhamun Conference in London

Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology to Host Event

Tickets are now available for the conference "Tutankhamun: The Making of a Legend" at London's Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology on May 31, 2008.


The conference Tutankhamun: The Making of a Legend, hosted by the Friends of the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, will take place at the Bloomsbury Theatre, University College London on Saturday, May 31, 2008 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Presentations include:

  • Amarna, Memphis and Thebes: Life in the Royal Cities of Akhenaten and Tutankhamun by Dr. Kate Spence;
  • Akhenaten, Tutankhamun and the Religion of the Aten;
  • Tutankhamun's Tomb(s?); and
  • Tutankhamun: The Making of a Legend, all by Dr. David Silverman.

Keynote speaker David P. Silverman is Curator in Charge of the Egyptian Section of the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and Eckley Brinton Coxe, Jr. Professor of Egyptology in the university's Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. He is national curator, advisor and academic content creator for Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs and co-curator of Penn Museum's long-term special exhibition Amarna: Ancient Egypt's Place in the Sun.

Tickets to the conference cost £30.00 each. The price of admission includes morning coffee, afternoon tea and a glass of wine after the event.
