British Museum Celebrates July 4th

Celebrate American Independence Day on Friday, July 4, 2008 at London's British Museum with three free events. No reservations are required. Just drop by.
  • Collecting American Prints for the British Museum (1:15 PM) is a gallery talk by Frances Carey in Room 90.
  • Jazz in the Gallery (6:30-8:30 PM) is a live performance in Room 24 offered in conjunction with the current exhibition The American Scene: Prints from Hopper to Pollock (April 10-September 7, 2008).
  • American Late: Independence Day (6:30-9:00 PM) features a swing band, lindy-hop dancing, basketball and American football demonstrations and arts and crafts workshops in the Great Court. Talks on Native American art and a printmaking presentation in The American Scene... are highlights of the program. Live jazz permeates the galleries while American-style food and drink are for sale.
