The
University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology's highly popular exhibition,
Amarna, Ancient Egypt's Place in the Sun, is now a long-term show. The highly popular exhibition, designed as a complement to
Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs at the Franklin Institute Science Museum (now closed), opened on November 12, 2006. It describes the city of the boy-king's birth, its art and culture.
As part of an exchange, Penn Museum's exhibition now has on display
The Metropolitan Museum of Art's famous
Head of Tutankhamun Wearing the Blue Crown (ca. 1336-1327 B.C.) from October 3, 2007 to June 2008. And The Met's upcoming show,
Gifts for the Gods: Images from Egyptian Temples (October 16, 2007-February 18, 2008), will feature Penn Museum's kneeling
Statuette of Tutankhamun (1332-1322 B.C.).
